CAMP HILL -- Lyman Ward Military Academy's first basketball season as a member of the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Class 1A got off to a good start with a 69 - 32 win over Enterprise Prep at home on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The varsity Rangers led the entire game, and exhibited a balanced offensive attack that resulted in four players scoring in double figures, and a fifth only a point away. Freshman guard Amory Thompson led the scoring parade with a game-high 16 points. Senior post Kyle Johnson added 13 points, senior guard Justin Minor had 12, senior post player Zavious Darling had 10 points and seven rebounds, and freshman point guard Justin Quinn had nine points, eight steals, and five assists.
"This was a solid performance for our first game of the new season," said Head Coach Jeff Damron. "We have a long way to go - 19 more games - and there is a lot of room for improvement all around. Our guys are working hard and still adjusting to a new system. There is a lot of basketball left to be played."
The Fighting Rangers travel to Enterprise Prep for a return game on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
