After a stellar senior season for the Lyman Ward Ranger football team, quarterback Justin Minor was named to the Alabama Independent School Associated all-star team.
Minor will represent the East squad on Dec. 4 in Prattville's Stanley-Jensen Stadium. He is one of 88 players who made either the East or West roster.
His head coach during the regular season, Sheldon Ward, had nothing but positive remarks about his team's most productive player this year.
"Justin Minor is the type of kid that all coaches look to have," Ward said. "He was a total blessing to our program. He wasn't the whole team, but he was a great asset to the team. He has leadership qualities that go on and off the field, as well.
"He is an A-B student and tries to excel in all that he does. He was a very well-known athlete within our fan base as well as in the AISA. Him being selected to the all-star game really helps the Lyman Ward football program. At times like this, you really wish he had been an underclassman. He will be hard to replace and will be very much missed," Ward said.
Minor threw for 10 touchdowns and rushed for 10 touchdowns on the season. He passed for 875 yards by completing 52 of 92 attempts and gained 751 yards on the ground on 81 carries.
He also averaged 21.6 yards per return for LWMA.
