Jacobson Scholarship

CAMP HILL, AL- Cadet Taylor Dain Jacobson, a second-year senior from Acworth, GA, has been awarded a four-year U. S. Army ROTC scholarship to The University of Alabama.  Jacobson is the second member of Lyman Ward Military Academy's Class of 2008 to be awarded an ROTC scholarship.

Jacobson plans to study nursing at the University.  He serves as Company Commander for the Lyman Ward Batallion, and ranks third academically in the Senior Class with a 3.2 grade point average.  He is a member of the Academy's award-winning Scholars Bowl team.

Jacobson has been actively involved in virtually every phase of cadet life at Lyman Ward.  He serves as co-captain of the varsity football team as an offensive lineman, and plays on the varsity basketball and varsity soccer teams.  He is a fixture on the Academy's Dean's List for academic excellence, and participated on the Academ's prestigious Sword Drill team last Spring.

The Georgia resident has won three Army Junior ROTC medals, and has participated in intramural sports and martial arts programs at Lyman Ward.

"The opportunity to study nursing in college with the help of an Army ROTC scholarship represents the best way for me to combine my strong interest in helping people while serving my country," Jacobson says.

Jeff Damron, Academic Dean, praised Jacobson and his accomplishments.

"Taylor Jacobson is an outstanding young man who will represent Lyman Ward and his country well at The University of Alabama," he said. "Taylor has hitched his wagon to a star, and is an inspiration to all of our cadets because of his dedication and persistence in the face of adversity."
