Dr. Peter Hastie, a professor of health and human performance at Auburn University, finds time to teach a junior school physical education class two days a week at the Academy. Dr. Hastie involves seventh grade cadets (and some senior school cadets as well) in a variety of innovative activities designed to rapidly improve their fitness level and, of course, have a lot of fun while doing it. Hastie uses pedometers and other equipment he brings from the university to design individual fitness programs for each cadet.
