JROTC

The JROTC curriculum is designed using the newest techniques available and is student centered with instructors facilitating learning. Experts in the fields of secondary education and adolescent behavioral improvement were contracted and assisted the writers in the preparation of the materials. Lessons were written for three levels of presentation from high tech to self-paced.

Each unit is divided into chapters and lessons. Those divisions are:

  • #61623; Introduction to JROTC
  • #61623; Leadership Theory and Application
  • #61623; Foundations of Success
  • #61623; Wellness, Fitness, and First Aid
  • #61623; Geography and Earth Science
  • #61623; Citizenship and American History
  • #61623; Air Rifle Safety and Marksmanship

Program of Instruction (POI) lists the preferred sequence of lessons by LET level but is designed to be flexible, allowing us to shift and align lessons to particular school courses or the needs of the school. We in the JROTC unit at Lyman Ward Military Academy are striving to present materials we consider academically sound by aligning our POI to currently accepted federal, state, and school standards. The JROTC department also offers activities such as Color Guard, Drill Team, Rifle Team and Physical Fitness Team. We compete at different levels throughout the school year.

The Lyman Ward JROTC Department is excited about continuing to make our already excellent program an even better one.
