Dual Enrollment
Dual enrollment allows qualified seniors to enroll in college courses at post-secondary institutions in order to earn dual credits for a high school diploma, and/or stand alone college credits. LWMA seniors who qualify may take courses through the Academy's agreement with Central Alabama Community College (CACC) in Alexander City, AL. Courses are offered on campus and online, and are transferable to four-year colleges and universities.
Seniors desiring to take college courses must have earned at least an overall 3.0 average, and must pass a placement examination at the College. Students must display evidence of academic readiness and social maturity, and have written approval from the Academic Dean.
Dual course grades are calculated into LWMA's GPA, and are not weighted. Student grades are reported numerically on the LWMA transcript and as a letter grade on the college transcript.
Dual enrollment students must complete a college application. Payment of tuition, fees, and books are the responsibility of the student, and are payable by the first day of classes. Courses at CACC are offered on a two-day schedule: Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday. CACC operates on the semester system (15 weeks equals one semester).
